Y’all.  WE BOUGHT OUR DREAM HOME!  For the past two months I have been dying to write this blog but I couldn’t do it until after we officially closed on the house!  Ever since Nate and I got married almost three years ago, we have been searching for our perfectly-old-oh-so-pretty-fixer-upper.  We tried to buy three different homes in Charlotte and each one fell through for one reason or another.  When we moved to Richmond about a year and a half ago, we knew that we would call the Museum District our new home.

We love the walkability of our neighborhood.  We can walk to places like Black Hand Coffee and Belmont Pizza in less than 3 minutes.  We have three corner stores within three blocks.  We can ride our bikes to our favorite restaurants.  On the weekends we rarely get in our cars…there’s no need!  There may be a time down the road that city life isn’t for us anymore (though I’m pretty sure that won’t happen…we hate yard work) but we know that right now…this is where we are meant to be.

We moved into this house in August and in December, the opportunity to buy it was presented to us.  It was a no brainer.  We felt blessed to simply be able to rent it, but to buy it was something we only dreamed of!  We have had big plans for this house since we moved in, but always thought we’d never see them come to fruition because we were simply renting.  Now, we get to do those things and I cannot wait!

Over the next few weeks and months I’ll be sharing some photos of the inside of our dream home.  We have already done A LOT of work on the house so I’ll be sharing those before and after pictures, but we’ve got one HUGE project in the works and I can hardly contain my excitement!  I have spent hours on Pinterest planning a KITCHEN RENOVATION!  If you’d like to follow along with my inspiration board, you can follow me on Pinterest here.

Do you have experience renovating an old home?  Do you have any suggestions or advice for us newbies?  Leave a comment below…we’d love to hear as much as advice as you’re willing to give!

And of course, with the snow today, I had to share this shot of my beautiful snow covered street!
